Laisdalen

Fishing

An Eldorado for the enthusiastic fisherman

Within walking distance of the village there are about 10 lakes, ponds, streams and of course the Laisälven river. Up in the mountains there are also many lakes of varying terrain and size, everything a connoisseur could wish for. Some areas are also designated for fly fishing only.

Nibbling fish!

Only trout and char swim in the waters of the upper Laisdalen . Both fish are eager to eat, although the char becomes a bit lethargic when the water temperature rises and thus seeks deeper water.

With the village fishing license you can fish in the lakes Laddve, Yraft, Mittisjön and Lomtjärn. Fishing in other waters requires a state fishing license.

Within walking distance of the village there are about 10 lakes, ponds, streams and of course the Laisälven river. Up in the mountains there are also many lakes of varying terrain and size, everything a connoisseur could wish for. Some areas are also designated for fly fishing only.

- All this and more means that Adolfström with its location, in Laisdalen where the wilderness begins, has become an Eldorado for the enthusiastic fisherman!

Four lakes

The four lakes, Yraft, Mittisjön, Laddve and Lomtjärn, are located from 150 meters to 600 meters from the cottages. That's as far as you need to go to get your fish. At the beginning of the village is Lake Laddve, where you can easily fish from the shore. At the other end of the village is Lake Yraft, a branch of the River Laisälven. Here you can rent a boat and row long distance if you wish. Via a strait, the river continues down to Lake Mitti, and here, too, large fish swim. Lomtjärn is located a little way into the forest. There is also a picnic area and wind shelter here.

Gaitsjaure

Gaitsjaure is a mountain lake with good

fishing, 7 km from the valley, just

above the tree line.

Only char are found here, and there are five other interesting ponds in the area. A fantastic view to the west, where the Laisälven river shines down in the valley and the mountains shimmer in the sunset.

River Laisälven

Many column inches have been written about

this river. Its clear water, its sandy beaches surrounding the calm water sections and its deep hollows in the rapids. Buttercups, midsummer flowers, bluebells and all the other species that grow on the banks. Willow areas where moose roam in peace and quiet.

- No, the Laisälven cannot be described in words - it must be experienced!

Canoeing on the river Laisälven

A fishing trip up the river at dusk

Treat yourself to a fishing trip up the river, when the spring flood has passed and dusk starts to come at night in late July. By then most of the mosquitoes have lost their sting and the ones that are left are sitting on a branch waiting for better times!

Pelagic fishing

The noble fish, char and trout, are rather capricious and not always easy to hook. Catch results vary greatly from day to day, sometimes even from hour to hour.

The best thing to do is to try it out; if they don't bite at depth, they may do so in shallower water instead. Char tend to prefer copper and red lures, while trout prefer to bite something silver or silver/copper. Dropping the lure to the bottom and stirring up a cloud of dust sometimes attracts the fish. If you are curious, you can lie on your stomach and peek instead, a little grain of rice on the bottom makes it easier to focus your eyes and distinguish the fish. Small jerks appeal to char, but trout prefer to venture out if the water is still.

-Yes, there are many tips, some even claim that it all depends on the position of the moon. But the best tip is probably to try it out and not to forget your patience at home!

Yraft and Mitti Lake

The two nearest lakes, which can be easily walked or skied to. There are large fish here, although they are difficult to catch. The char usually thrives where there is a grassy bottom, at the outlet of the lake.

Lutaure and Tjallas

To Lutaure it is a little longer, 6 km, but it is quickly skied for the quick. Otherwise there is a snowmobile trail along the King's Trail. The northern part of the lake is within Pieljekaise National Park, the border is marked with bushes along the entire lake. It is allowed to fish in the national park but not to drive a snowmobile. From Lutor you can continue 2 km west to Tjallas, also parts of this lake are within the national park, but here it is not allowed to either fish or drive a snowmobile within the national park.

Gavas and Gierdos

If you follow the King's Trail south instead, you will reach the popular lakes Gavas, Tjålmejaure and Gierdos. This is a large lake system where fine fish swim, an excellent destination on a sunny spring day!

Since 1985

Redfish Week

For almost 40 years, we have organized Rödingveckan - a theme week where fishing enthusiasts meet like-minded people, inveterate fishermen or total beginners do not matter!

You will receive practical advice on suitable equipment before you come to us. Once in Adolfström, we organize group excursions, guide you to fine fishing waters, and give you the best tips for catching char. A local trip leader and guide will help with all the practical details during the week, and together we will exchange experiences.

Trout fishing is easily accessible in the area. Right next to the village there are fine fishing waters and a little further away we find more exotic lakes. Accommodation is in our modern cottages equipped for self-catering. We have both simple cottages and more lavish ones with shower, toilet and fireplace. We also help you to rent a snowmobile if desired.

Nowadays there is also an unusual and cozy gathering place in the "barn" - where we meet after the fishing trips to summarize the day and crown the master fishermen of the day!
