Laisdalen

Small game hunting

"A sunny fall day,

when the colors start coming, a little snow on the mountain tops and grouse flying out of the brush.

Then grouse hunters think life is great!"

Autumn hunting

In the mountains to the west along Laisdalen and also to the south in the mountain area, there are good habitats for grouse. Willow areas, marshlands and mountain birch forests mixed with open areas. There are always grouse in these areas. The availability depends very much on how the summer has been for the grouse chicks. Mixed weather is always best. Just enough sun, heat and rain. Just enough fox and birds of prey.

A sunny autumn day, when the colors begin to appear, a little snow on the mountain tops and grouse flying out of the brush. Then even a grouse hunter thinks that nature is fantastic.

Since the best grouse grounds are a few miles from the highway, you should take a helicopter to reach the hunting areas quickly. This means that there are few hunters who hunt further into the mountains. We are few hunting organizers in the area, which also means that in most cases we can recommend hunters large areas where you can hunt completely alone during the day.

A great area for hunting. With the help of the helicopter, an eldorado where there is no crowding of hunters.

Winter hunting

Grouse hunting is allowed until March 15, and it is recommended to start hunting in mid-January at the earliest. The ptarmigan is found from the valley up to the tree line, and the ptarmigan from the tree line up to the barren rocks of the high mountains. The species are very similar with the only difference being that the ptarmigan has a nice black stripe around its eyes. The smiles, however, are completely different. The ptarmigan's "creaking" sound is like opening a door with unlubricated hinges, while the Dalmatian's shrill "laugh" is quite laughable.

At dawn and dusk the grouse generally sit on the birch trees and eat the buds. During the day and especially at night, if it is cold, they crawl into the snow.

Imagine gliding on your skis over mountain ranges that are completely untouched by man. Only nature's own tracks. Tracks of grouse and fox. Wolverine tracks that meander between the heights. The raven sitting on a rocky shelf and croaking while the golden eagle soars high in the sky. If you then also find the grouse, get to shoot a few, then the day is saved. Then you can actually put the rifle aside. Again, take out the black coffee pot and make your coffee with dried reindeer meat as a snack. You can sit and listen to nature while the sun sinks behind the shimmering blue mountain peaks. That usually makes you feel pretty good.

- Our lifelong experience in winter grouse hunting ensures that you will find the right grouse grounds.
