Canoeing in Laisdalen is a perfect way to discover nature and surroundings from a different perspective - from the water.

Treat yourself to a fishing trip up the river, once the spring tide has passed and dusk begins to fall at night in late July.

By then, most of the mosquitoes have lost their sting and those that remain are sitting on a branch, waiting for better times.

Here are the first canoes. Once you have launched them, it is a 3 km paddle to the first rapids. There you carry the canoes about 300 m past the small rapids. 

When the rapids at Fjällfors begin, leave the first canoes and walk 2.5 km on foot along the river's edge. The path is easy and well marked.

At Bietsitjselet there are new canoes to launch and from there you can paddle 3 km up the river past the outlet of Hurásjåhkås.

The canoe glides silently through the water. A meditative feeling emerges and you get close to the wildlife both above and below.

In the river, there are nice sized trout that offer a fight if you manage to hook them.
