When the Stockholm girl Marianne came to Adolfström in the summer of 1975, she felt the place was the end of the world. She came to attend a course in mountain hiking and mountain etiquette. The course leader was a son of the village, Jan Thorfve. Things immediately "clicked" and Marianne left a job as a laboratory assistant and moved to Adolfström in 1977.

Marianne and Jan immediately began intensive work to expand the mountain farm, which at the time only had a tourist cabin and a cow in the barn. Marianne brought fresh new ideas to the valley where the beauty of nature has enchanted many visitors. The splendor of Laisdalen with its long sandy beaches and alternating flower meadows is breathtaking.
